Carlo Lanini was born on August 20th, 1949 in Poppi, a small village in Tuscany, near Arezzo. He showed a marked gift for drawing and painting from an early age . He tells about himself “People older than me remember when I was a child and painted everything kneeling on the sidewalk near my house or on the landings just outside the front doors“; then one day “I had the opportunity to see a watercolour paintbox; it contained more than forty colours and that wonderful vision left me absolutely spellbound for over half an hour.“Since then he began to paint and he has not stopped yet. In 1969, when he was 20 years old, he participated in the painting competition “Paolo Uccello” in Pratovecchio (Arezzo) and won the first prize. In 1975 he organized his first exhibition in the extraordinary setting of the imposing Conti Guidi Castle in Poppi. All the important events in his painting career, with over fifteen hundred oil paintings and as many drawings, occurred over intervals of decades. In 1995, together with 1027 other artists, he took part in the first Carlo Dalla Zorza contest at the Ponterosso Gallery in Milan; he was selected among the top 50 best artists and then ranked among the top five, receiving a prestigious award. In 2005 he set up an important collaboration with the Company “Italarte” in Rome owned by Pino Purificato, son of the famous painter Domenico Purificato. In 2015 he started working with Orler Galleries in Venice, that selected him among the group of artists of the “Affordable art” programme. By means of lots of events and exhibitions, the artist was able to present his works both in Italy, e.g. in Arezzo, Florence, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Parma, Perugia, Borgo San Lorenzo, Cortona, Sansepolcro and abroad, e.g. in Paris and London, in Austria and in the United States. Since 2003 Lanini has opened his painting school in Poppi, where he carries out his teaching activity intended for people who love art and have the desire to learn how to paint and draw.

Carlo Lanini nasce il 20 Agosto del 1949 a Poppi, un piccolo borgo in Toscana, vicino ad Arezzo. Fin da piccolo manifesta una notevole predisposizione al disegno ed alla pittura. Lui stesso racconta “le persone più vecchie di me si ricordano di quando da bambino disegnavo e coloravo ogni cosa in ginocchio sul marciapiede di casa o sui pianerottoli delle scale”; poi un giorno, dice ancora l’artista “ebbi l’opportunità di vedere una scatola con i quadrotti degli acquarelli; erano più di quaranta colori e mi sembrò così meraviglioso che rimasi incantato per oltre mezz’ora”. Da allora ha cominciato a dipingere e non ha più smesso. Nel 1969, a 20 anni, ha partecipato al concorso di pittura Paolo Uccello a Pratovecchio (Arezzo) ed ha vinto il primo premio. Nel 1975 ha realizzato la prima mostra personale nell’imponente struttura del castello dei Conti Guidi di Poppi. Gli eventi importanti nella sua carriera pittorica, con oltre millecinquecento opere ad olio ed altrettanti disegni, avvengono con cadenze decennali. Nel 1995, con altri 1027 artisti, partecipa al primo concorso Carlo Dalla Zorza alla Galleria Ponterosso di Milano; è prima selezionato tra i migliori 50 artisti e poi premiato tra i primi cinque con l’assegnazione del quarto posto. Nel 2005 inizia una importante collaborazione con la società Italarte di Roma di cui è titolare Pino Purificato, il figlio del noto pittore Domenico Purificato. Nel 2015 inizia a lavorare con Orler Gallerie di Venezia che lo seleziona nel gruppo degli artisti del programma “Affordable art”. Tra un evento e l’altro molte esposizioni personali e collettive hanno portato l’artista a presentare i suoi lavori in Italia, ad Arezzo, Firenze, Roma, Milano, Bologna, Parma, Perugia, Borgo S. Lorenzo, Cortona, Sansepolcro e all’estero, a Parigi e Londra, in Austria e negli Stati Uniti. Dal 2003 Lanini ha aperto a Poppi la sua scuola di pittura dove insegna a persone che amano l’arte e desiderano imparare a dipingere.
